The Monte Mar Palace Hotel is set on lush green hillside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, 15 kilometres from Porto Moniz village. The 111 guestrooms are decorated in blues and whites and open onto balconies with sea or mountain views. All include air conditioning, satellite television, direct dial phones, hair dryers, minibars and safes.
On summer days guests can sunbathe by the outdoor pool and take in panoramic ocean views with a cocktail from one of three bars. Active guests can exercise in the gym or play a game of squash and those seeking total relaxation can be pampered with treatments at the health club, which also offers a hot tub, Turkish bath and sauna. Guests can dine in the restaurant, and plan outings using the hotel's Internet point, or ask multilingual staff for advice on the area's best attractions. Children have their own playground area and the hotel also offers a putting green and driving range for keen golfers. A range of water sports are available four kilometres from the hotel, and hiking and biking opportunities can be found within eight kilometres. Other nearby attractions include the historical village at Ponte Delgada six kilometres away, and the Sao Vicente Caves ten kilometres away. Madeira Funchal Airport is 65 kilometres and a driving time of 50 minutes from the hotel.
